ABOUT

Beth Bower is a mixed media abstract artist and physician living and working in Portland, Oregon. She grew up in New Orleans where she absorbed the color and richness of the Southern landscape. After living on both coasts, she settled in Portland over 25 years ago and continues to be inspired by the natural beauty of the coast, the mountains, and the spaces in between.

 

For Beth, painting is an intuitive process, beginning with an enjoyment of the tactile qualities of paint and materials and an exploration of color. As she continues to paint, Beth waits for the painting to begin to reveal itself, watching carefully for clues that direct the work's composition and mood. "I want my paintings to evoke a moment of recognition, a recalled emotion or sense of place that asks the viewer pause and reflect."
